Have you been wanting to wake up early and get a good start to your day but can’t seem to get a good nights rest? Is it hard for you to get into a good routine because your sleep schedule is all over the place? well, we have a few tips for you to help get you on track.

The following tips can assist you in getting that good night’s sleep:

1.   Avoid a pattern of sleeping 12 hours one night, then 6 the next. This is one of the worst cycles for your body as some days you feel great and some days you just feel exhausted. Maintain a consistent sleep schedule as close as possible. Oversleeping and under-sleeping throw off your routine.

2.   Exercise. Avoid intense, late-night sessions. If these were done early in the day, they would aid in a good night’s sleep. Try to avoid late night workouts as it builds adrenaline instead of calming the body. You find yourself staying up for hours after.

3.   Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and other stimulants before bed. Caffeine increase alertness, as do other stimulants. Alcohol, on the other hand, will actually help you fall asleep. But alcohol greatly disrupts REM sleep; after a night of heavy drinking, you fall asleep early…but you are not really resting.

4.   Avoid sleeping pills and try out white noises that can help ease your mind into the night. Also, instead of watching tv, try listening to a podcast on sleep timer. to feed your mind positive affirmations.

5.  Optimize your sleeping environment. Keep your room cool and dark and minimize light exposure to include your phone. If you are on your phone, dim the light down or use the red light.

6. Drink lemon water or a night calming tea to help rest your mind as you prepare to go to bed.

7. Try adding essential oils to your night time routine. We love the Lavender pillow spray and peace and calming scents to get the best sleep. Lavender is associated with lower blood pressure, heart rate, and skin temperature which is essential to a good nights rest. (sleep.org)

**REM sleep: A kind of sleep that occurs at intervals during the night and is characterized by rapid eye movements, more dreaming and bodily movement, and faster pulse and breathing.

Hope this helps you get the best sleep possible. Comment below if you use or will try one of our tips! :)
